Rejoice in HIM!
Bringing News of Richard & Judy Grout from Vyborg, Russia Russian Lifeline No.182, February 2014
Dear Friends and Loved Ones, February 2, 1942—On this day 72 years ago, two baby boys were born, one in Orenburg, U.S.S.R., one in Oregon, U.S.A. That was a dark day in the history of both nations. The German Nazi armies were rolling across Russia toward the Volga River and no one seemed able to stop them. The Japanese Imperial Navy was conquering island after island, nation after nation, in the Eastern Pacific Ocean. It really seemed Hitler and his Axis of Anti-Christ powers was about to conquer the world.
But God had a different plan. Just as these two little baby boys began to rise up and walk, the two greatest nations on earth began to rise up. In June 1942, the American Navy dealt a major blow to the Japanese Navy in the battle of Midway. After exactly one year, on February 2, 1943, the German Army was destroyed at Stalingrad. After 1942, the Nazi and Japanese forces grew weaker and weaker, while the Russian and American forces grew stronger and stronger.
Are you in a dark and challenging place? Learn from the history of our two nations. Two little boys, 72 years old today agree, “We may be down, but we will not admit it. “ As one man said, “I’m never really down, I’m always either up or getting up.” 2,000 years ago, a man who was often knocked down and beaten up, but who refused to stay down and kept looking up—the Apostle Paul, wrote these immortal words: “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? . . . In all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels, nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Jesus was tortured, crucified, buried in a sealed and guarded tomb, but He rose again overcoming all His adversaries, including the greatest enemy of all—death. Because He lives we know that we, too, can be overcomers and have everlasting life.
Dear Friends and Loved Ones, Grace and Peace be multiplied to you all!
This is a testimony from two old men in Russia. (One of them is me!) When we gave our testimony in church, together we sang “Amazing Grace.”
Thanks to everyone who remembered to send birthday and Christmas greetings. It was overwhelming to hear from so many, some of whom I haven’t heard from since the last century!
All because of HIS Amazing Grace,
Viktor Petrovich + Richard Grout
